Transfer a Florida car title without a second trip to the tax collector

Pick your situation. We give you the exact HSMV forms, the fee total for your county, the 30-day rule and the mistakes that send people home. Then we fill the forms in for you.

How it works

1

Pick your situation

Sale, gift, family, inheritance, moving to Florida. Each one has its own boxes on the 82040 and its own tax rule.

2

Answer five short steps

Names, vehicle (the VIN fills most of it), transaction and county. Nothing is stored on our servers.

3

Preview the filled forms

See the official HSMV pages completed with your details before you decide anything.

4

Print, sign, go once

The kit includes the counter checklist and the fee total for your county, so the clerk has no reason to send you home.

The five Florida facts people get wrong

  1. The late penalty is $20, not $10. F.S. 319.23(6) sets $20 for motor vehicles; the $10 figure is the vessel (boat) penalty and gets copied from site to site.
  2. No notary is required on the "Transfer of Title by Seller" section, even though the title has a notary block (FLHSMV procedure TL-11).
  3. Most Florida titles are electronic. If the seller has no paper, you either print one ($2.50 mailed, $10 fast) or reassign it together at the tax collector with HSMV 82994.
  4. Gifts are tax-free only if nothing changes hands, including a loan. A recipient who takes over the payments owes sales tax on the assumed balance (Rule 12A-1.007).
  5. Declaring a low price does not lower the tax. Under 80% of book value, the tax collector taxes the book value unless both parties sign DR-99A.

What the kit contains

Why not just ask an AI or read the DMV site?

Because the DMV site tells you what exists and an AI tells you what is probably true. Neither fills the form, totals your fees, or takes responsibility. We read the official procedures (TL-11, TL-10, TL-18), the statute and the tax rule, date every fact, and refund you if the counter rejects paperwork because of our error.
