The state fees below come from the FLHSMV fee procedure. Sales tax depends on the price and your county; the kit builder computes it for you.

|---|---|---|
| Title transfer, electronic title | $75.25 | FEES-01 |
| Title transfer + paper title mailed | $77.75 | FEES-01 |
| Title transfer + fast title printed at the office | $85.25 | FEES-01 |
| Original Florida title, used vehicle from another state | $85.25 | FEES-01 / TL-10 |
| Duplicate title (lost title), electronic | $75.25 | FEES-01 |
| Lien recording (new loan) | $2.00 | FEES-01 |
| Late penalty, application after 30 days | $20.00 | F.S. 319.23(6) |
| Initial registration when no Florida plate is transferred | $225.00 | F.S. 320.072 |
6% state sales tax on the full price, plus the county discretionary surtax (0% to 2%) on the first $5,000 only. Paid at the tax collector when you title the car. Exempt: true gifts (no money, no assumed loan), transfers between spouses, divorce settlements and distributions to heirs (Rule 12A-1.007). Tax paid to another state on a car you bring to Florida is credited.
Example: $8,500 car in Orange County (0.5% surtax): $510.00 state tax + $25.00 surtax = $535.00, plus the $75.25 title fee.
Registration is charged by vehicle weight and plate type and varies; the counter quotes it. If you have no Florida plate to transfer, add the $225 initial registration fee.
The kit builder adds the county surtax, the late penalty if you are past 30 days, and the initial registration when it applies.
